Abstract
Owing to the growing environmental concern harnessing renewable energy sources became absolutely necessary like Solar, Wind etc. In this study Malin Head, Dublin Airport, Belmullet and Mullingar sites from Ireland are taken. Wind speed data was collected for last seven years for wind resource analysis (WRA) at a height of 50 m above ground level. Energy pattern factors are computed for all sites. Two parameter Extreme Value Distribution (EVD) model is used for analyzing wind speed pattern variations. Extreme Value Distribution (EVD) parameters are calculated by using Method of Moments (MOM). Analytical observations demonstrate that the coastal sites of Ireland such as Malin Head, Dublin Airport and Belmullet are better wind power potential sites. Strong winds for power generation occurred during the months of December to January. Development of wind power plants leads to reduction of scarcity of electrical energy. Index Terms- WRA, M...
